Jaffa Nishli has served as Rabbi Arthur Schneier's Park East Day School's computer technology teacher for twenty four years. She teaches early childhood through eighth grade and has earned a reputation among students for her outstanding efforts and unparalleled dedication and affection.

Under Jaffa's leadership, Park East students are utilizing the most advanced educational software on the market to prepare for life beyond graduation, with applications ranging from social studies to science, mathematics and language arts. In addition, Jaffa has developed a programming and robotics curriculum, launched a popular computer recreation club, is the 8 th grade Yearbook advisor and has planned and implemented the school's annual 4th-8th grade technology fair.

Jaffa grew up in a large, loving family that made aliyah from Morocco in 1952. She was born and raised in Tel Aviv and served in the Israeli Defense Forces as an administrator in the Infantry before pursuing a degree at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem in Sociology and Education. Jaffa married her husband of 41 years, Yehuda, in 1976 and together they moved to New York City where Jaffa received a Computer Programming and Electronic Data Processing Certificate from Queens College.

A lifelong career in Jewish affairs began in 1980 with Jaffa working for the Israeli Mission to the United Nations. There she served as executive administrator to Israeli ambassadors Yehuda Blum (1978-1984) and Benjamin Netanyahu (1984- 1988). After moving to Roslyn in 1992, Jaffa accepted a position as summer computer program director for Horizon Day Camp at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury.

Jaffa is an active member of the Manhattan Sephardic Congregation. She has a lifelong love of Judaic Studies and the Hebrew language, which she transmits at every opportunity to her students. She is also a part-time teacher at the Park Avenue Synagogue Congregational School.

Jaffa and Yehuda derive much nachas from grandsons Ezra and Shaya, and son and daughter-in- law Ariel and Ilana. All live in Los Angeles and are incredibly proud of Jaffa's well-deserved honor, along with Amit who is smiling down from Shamayim.
