Sharon and Aaron Stern were both born and raised in Montreal, Canada, where they met at the age of 12 at Bialik High School. They are proud parents to Max Jacob Stern, currently in the 2s program at the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School.

Sharon earned her Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University in Economics and World Religions and her Masters’ Degree from Brown University in Economic Policy. As an economist, she then served as the Senior Analyst in Strategy and Corporate Development for the Business Development Bank of Canada, before becoming a real estate investor and developer. She is currently President of Eastmore Management, which invests in, develops and manages student housing apartment buildings in Montreal.

Aaron earned his Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University in Commerce, with a Major in Accounting. He is currently a Director at Fir Tree Partners, a value-oriented hedge fund with over $10 billion under management. At Fir Tree, Aaron manages many of the firm’s investments in distressed sovereign and municipal credit as well as international equities. Prior to Fir Tree, Aaron held investment roles at O.S.S. Capital Management and Millennium Management. And prior to that, he was an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston’s Leveraged Finance and Restructuring divisions. He has spoken at numerous industry conferences, including the Sohn Investment Conference, where he has shared his investment ideas. He has also appeared on Bloomberg TV and is a guest lecturer at McGill University.

Sharon and Aaron believe very strongly in the importance of a Jewish education and support many organizations in Montreal, New York and Jerusalem that focus on providing a high quality Jewish education both inside and outside the classroom. Sharon, Aaron and Max are active within the Synagogue and School and are grateful to Park East Synagogue and Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School for fostering a warm community atmosphere in which they have relished these past few years.
